Inktober 2019 – Build

Build that door, make it sturdy. Make it something that will shut out the outside, let nothing in. Close it, don’t leave, don’t go out. Hold the demons at bay.

Feel the electricity course though the body, jumping, twitching. Heart pounding, brain light-headed, stomach turning. Limbs disconnect, floating. Nothing is real except the anxiety.

It’s time. Take the pill. Slowly, surely, drift back to earth. Head settles down. Relief from constant vigilance.

Fatigue envelops. Curl up, let sleep take over. Rest.

Until the next time.
